Bénédicte Hanquet, MPT and Clinic Manager at ApexNetwork Physical Therapy in Frontenac, MO attended a course in December 2016 to continue her education in Kinesio Taping. The course was offered by the Kinesio Taping Association International, which was founded by Dr. Kenzo Kase.
With the growing rate of Kinesio Taping application among athletes, Kinesio Taping can be misused or misunderstood.
“The most valuable information I received during this hands-on interactive class was the different purpose of Kinesio Taping, the importance of its proper application and tension to address special dysfunctions,” stated Hanquet. “I would definitely recommend this class to any physical and occupational therapists and I am looking forward to attending the next module of the series!”
The first segment of the course, KT1, presented the Fundamental Concepts of the Kinesio Taping Method. It described the five majors physiological systems that Kinesio Tape can assist in correcting (skin, muscle, fascia, circulatory/lymphatic and joint). The course also discussed different applications to re-educate the neuromuscular system, support performance, prevent injury, promoted circulation and healing, and improve functional movement and positioning.
The second segment, KT2, presented the Advanced Concepts and Corrective Techniques of the Kinesio Taping Method: mechanical, functional, space, fascia, ligament/tendon and lymphatic. This segment also included hands-on labs.
The skills acquired from this course will allow Bénédicte Hanquet to provide this additional service to her patients. Please contact her at 314-442-6249 to schedule an appointment at ApexNetwork in Frontenac, MO or obtain further information.
