Amy Kuhl, PTA at ApexNetwork Physical Therapy in Breese, IL attended Washington University’s 10th Annual Sports Medicine conference on March 24 and 25. The seminar was hosted by Dr. Mark Halstead in Chesterfield, MO at the Double Tree by Hilton.
Topics covered at the seminar included: early age exposure to football with later life outcomes, concussion prevention, concussion update, chronic traumatic encephalopathy in sports, nutritional disorders in young athletes, when to initiate integrative neuromuscular training to reduce sports related injuries in youth, clinical outcome measures for ACL rehabilitation, young athlete throwing injuries, sport specific injuries (gymnastics, soccer, cross country), beneficial effects of resistance training for young athletes, sleep for athletes, exercise deficit disorder in kids, imaging common sports injuries in children, common eye injuries in sports and clavicle fractures.
In addition, speakers at the conference included: Terra Blatnik, MD; Eric Eutsler, MD; Dr. Avery Faigenbaum; Physical Therapist Paul Jenkins; Dr. Gregory Meyer; Dr. Jeffrey Nepple; Physical Therapist David Piskulic; Nicholas Silrestras, OD; and Dr. Gary Solomon.
The topics covered at this 2-day conference were presented at the Breese facility on March 29. Ryan Lampe, PT, ATC, and Clinic Manager was in attendance.
