horse1It brings great pleasure to ApexNetwork when hearing that a patient is participating in activities and hobbies they can again enjoy after physical therapy treatment. ApexNetwork Physical Therapy in University City, MO patient Mary S. has kindly shared her recent triumphs after a total knee replacement and treatment.
“I would like to thank everyone for helping me get my riding back. I managed to qualify for the Region XI Sport Horse Championship and win Champion in four different divisions, Reserve Champion in one division, and placed Regional Top Five in every division I entered. I was the only exhibitor that competed in every discipline (in hand, jumping, classical dressage and western dressage). I was able to run enough in the dirt to do my own jog ins and to show my new horse in hand. I even won the hunter/jumper high score award! I was only able to do limited preparation for the show to avoid too much swelling in my knee. I even wondered if I could even ride enough to participate, much less win! It was a dream come true!
After 5 days of grueling competition, other exhibitors could not believe how well I was still walking and riding. Many even commented that my riding was much improved. The show photographer said he had never seen anyone compete in four jumping divisions in a row without a break. He couldn’t believe I was recovering for a knee replacement and that I had not jumped a complete course since April of 2015. It is still amazing to me to function without constant pain.
Thank you for all of the encouragement and therapy that helped me reach my dreams and only 5 months after a total knee replacement!” – Mary S.
